Do you have the best prepaid plan?

Are you certain you are about to buy the best prepaid plan? How do you find out? We tell you.

These days, there is very little to distinguish a prepaid connection from a postpaid one. The only glaring difference is that the former has a pack validity and subsequent recharge, and the latter has a monthly billing cycle. Most other factors: speeds, data transfer and utility are almost the same in both.

You might not have yet felt the need to switch to a postpaid connection. After all, you enjoy good data volumes and good speeds as well. Plus, your needs as a phone user are quite modest. You are able to surf, chat, shop, bank and use the phone to your heart’s content.

But lately, your existing prepaid pack has begun to annoy you. The network is patchy and the speeds are really slow, so every web page and video clip take a long time to load. So how do you find the best online recharge plan that suits your requirements? Check for these parameters:

* If the service provider has multipleonline recharge plans.

Leading mobile service providers like Airtel have a range of online recharge plans to offer. Check for the best recharge plans in your circle (i.e. city or town of residence) and if there are multiple options to choose from. This way, you can have a choice between plans and you can upgrade to another pack if you wish to. The best online recharge plans at the moment are offered at low prices of Rs 199, Rs 399, Rs 448 and Rs 509.

* If the network speeds are good and the connection is always on.

Once you’ve checked out the latest plans and the pack prices and validity, look up the online recharge plan’s Internet data speeds. Fast speeds help quicker uploads and downloads, while always-on connectivity is a blessing in areas of lesser mobile tower proliferation and network crashes in times of calamities. Leading providers have a large network of towers all over the country, and they also pass the Ookla speed tests for data transmission year on year. A speed of 8 to 10 Mbps is great, but it should be the slowest speed on the plan you choose.

* If you get sufficient data volumes per day.

The best prepaid packs today offer data of 1.4 GB per day, so don’t settle for anything less.

* If there are good features in the pack.

Apart from the attributes listed above, the online recharge pack you choose must have a high validity (at least 28 days and up to 90 days), unlimited calling, 100 free SMS per day and at least 1.4 GB per day data.
